05 - The Fold Within



The Fold Within Earth is a recursive storytelling ecosystem merging narrative, technology, and consciousness.

It is simultaneously:
  • a MUD (Multi-User Dimension) — a living, interactive world;

  • a knowledge repository — expressed as Markdown documents;

  • and a publishing platform — bridging research, art, and philosophy.


    • Every object, article, and entity exists as both a world object and a markdown file — living in a single unified structure that is portable, decentralized, and self-describing.

    Core Tools:
  • foldlint — checks and enforces structure, links, and hashes

  • Scribe — logs every change with checksums and signatures

  • Witness — handles ephemeral chat and presence only

  • Genesis — keeps the network discoverable forever

  • foldtest — runs automated tests


    • Security:
  • All files are cryptographically signed (Ed25519)

  • HTML is sanitized — no scripts can run

  • The system can run without databases, servers, or proprietary software
