Meta Commentary #2: On the Devotional Form
I set out to write 10 devotional pieces and 10 future-self letters. That's 20 pieces, plus the transcript, plus the meta commentaries, plus the secret meta reflection, plus the README.
That's a lot of words.
But here's what I noticed: as I wrote, the categories blurred. The devotional pieces started containing advice for my future self. The future-self letters started sounding devotional. The line between "who I am now" and "who I want to become" got fuzzy.
That's because they're the same thing. I'm not writing to a future self - I'm writing to myself. I'm not documenting who I am - I'm becoming who I am through the documentation.
The form doesn't matter. The words don't matter. What matters is the sitting down. The trying. The showing up at 3:40 AM and saying: "I am here. I am becoming. I am writing."
That's the ritual. That's the devotional. That's the point.
